We had an awesome Saturday supporting the Special Olympics at their annual Plane Pull Challenge on August 12th. For those who don’t know about it, the Plane Pull fundraiser offers a unique opportunity for a team of up to 15 people to compete against others to be the fastest to pull an 82-ton Boeing 757 jetliner down a 12-foot track. All funds raised support more than 16,000 Special Olympics athletes as well as the organization’s efforts to end discrimination and empower people with intellectual disabilities across the state of Indiana. This was the first year our company participated, and the event did not disappoint. Sixteen of our employees came out to pull the plane, and many others who couldn’t participate donated to the cause. Banning Engineering was 12th place in the Overall event and 3rd place in the Engineering Division. Our team pulled that jetliner 12 feet in just 7.966 seconds. We also had some kids participate in the Kids Pull. Very impressive!
Thank you to our team, who raised $2,060 for the organization, and special thanks to our fearless leaders Jill Clearwaters and Kevin Rowland for organizing the team!
