This past month has been great for road tripping and wandering. There is always too much to say and not enough time to get it down, so check out the links to places to visit. Let me know what you think, and send me your favorites.

As I continue my journey to revisit all of the State Parks this year, I was able to visit three more this past month. Harmonie, Lincoln, and Tippecanoe River State Parks were those of choice. That puts me at 13 for the year—still a good ways to go. It had recently rained the day my daughter and I visited Tippecanoe River, and the trails were flooded; otherwise, we may have hiked. Looking forward to getting back there another time to explore.

Before discussing State Parks, I want to give a shout-out to Deam Lake State Recreation Area. I have visited this park several times before, most notably when starting my hike on the Knobstone Trail. While at the Monon South Trail groundbreaking, I enjoyed a nice long visit to Deam Lake. There is a wonderful campground, which I have never camped at—one I need to try in the future. It also has a camp for horse riders.

What I really enjoyed about this park was something I don’t ever remember experiencing. The park did an excellent job of beautifying the property—flowers were planted throughout the park. This is already a gorgeous place, but this was an added bonus that really made the park that much more visually enjoyable.

Other places visited:

  • Twin Swamps Nature Preserve—wonderful hike in the middle of nowhere. Go try to find the confluence of the Ohio and Wabash Rivers.
  • My wife and I spent the night in New Harmony, staying at the New Harmony Inn Resort, eating at the Red Geranium, taking a bike ride around town, visiting the historic sites, and having the pleasure of attending a Sunday morning worship service with Stewartsville Methodist Church at a special service in Murphy Park
