Helping Veterans Experience the Indy Honor Flight

Greg Foltz, one of Banning Engineering’s Assistant Project Managers, has been engaged with the Danville American Legion and the Indy Honor Flight for years. Greg’s father and father-in-law both served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, respectively. Dennis Duane Crowder, Greg’s father-in-law, will be honored for his service as one of the members of the Indy Honor Flight this coming Saturday, October 21st. Greg’s wife, Julia, and her father will fly to Washington, D.C., and return to Plainfield High School for a welcome home celebration. Banning Engineering would like to thank Dennis (“Denny”) for his service and sacrifice in the Vietnam War. Saturday will be an incredible opportunity to honor Denny for his years of service.

Indy Honor Flight is a non-profit organization created solely to honor Indiana veterans for their service and sacrifice. An Honor Flight is a one-day trip of a lifetime to honor and thank our wartime service men and women with a no-cost trip to Washington, D.C.. While there, the veterans and their families visit the memorials built in the veteran’s honor. The organization aims to send as many senior veterans as possible to visit the memorials built for them.

Banning Engineering supports the Hendricks County American Legion Indy Honor Flight Golf Outing with a hole sponsorship and foursome each year. Having fathers who served in the Navy around the same time, this organization is close to Greg and Julia’s hearts. They represent our company by golfing in the event each year.

If you are interested in an Honor Flight but are not local to Indy, Fort Wayne, Evansville, and Lafayette are also Honor Flight Hubs. If you know a Wartime WWII, Korea, or Vietnam Veteran who served on active duty during the listed service dates, they are eligible to travel through the organization. Please share the information below to submit their application or, if you feel led, personally donate to the cause. Thank you for helping and honoring our Hoosier Heroes.
