Celebrating Our CAD Team Ahead of National CAD Day – August 2, 2025

At Banning Engineering, every great project begins with a thoughtful plan, and our CAD (Computer-Aided Design) team is at the heart of it. CAD is the use of computer software to create precise drawings and technical illustrations used throughout the planning, permitting, and construction process. These digital blueprints are essential for turning concepts into concrete outcomes.

Our CAD technicians and designers take big ideas and turn them into clear, buildable plans that communities can count on.

From neighborhoods and parks to utility systems and roadways, our CAD designers support nearly every service we offer. Using advanced software, they create detailed layouts that help engineers design smarter systems, contractors build with confidence, and towns move projects forward. Their behind-the-scenes work keeps things moving smoothly, on time and on budget.

“As a CAD technician, I enjoy bringing ideas into reality,” said Daniel Arevalo. “My work helps engineers and project managers visualize and build their projects. It’s interesting to see how something that starts as a digital model can become something real and impactful.”

More than just technical experts, our CAD designers are true collaborators. They work closely with engineers, project managers, and survey teams to ensure every plan reflects the needs of both the site and the people it serves. Their accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail make them essential to our process—and our success.

“Being a CAD designer is incredibly fulfilling,” shared Greg Foltz. “We’re involved from the very beginning… conceptually laying out sites and roads, working through updates to address developer and municipal concerns, and building surface models with utilities, sewer, storm, and water services to create new home sites. Later, I’ll drive through these neighborhoods with my family and reflect on the work. I ask myself, ‘Could I have designed that turn differently? Could the drainage be better?’ That self-critique, that connection to something tangible and lasting, that’s where the satisfaction comes from.”

Recent projects like the Danville Water Treatment Plant, Easton Grey Town Center, Splash Island, and the NW Perimeter Parkway all reflect the care and expertise of our CAD team.

As we approach National CAD Day on August 2, we’re proud to recognize this talented group. Their precision and quiet dedication help shape the communities we serve—one plan at a time.
