As May puts racing in the spotlight across Indiana, most eyes turn to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. But just a few miles away, another legendary venue is undergoing a powerful transformation—and Banning Engineering is proud to be leading a key part of that effort.

Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park is rich in motorsports history. It’s where Mario Andretti claimed his first Indy Car victory in 1965, marking the first time the series had ever raced on a road course. Before that, A.J. Foyt won the first sprint car race on the oval in 1961. The track has also helped launch the careers of Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and countless others. Most notably, it’s home to the NHRA U.S. Nationals, drag racing’s most prestigious event.

Now, the NHRA is investing in the future of this historic facility with a multi-phase redevelopment project focused on improving the racer and fan experience. Banning Engineering, in collaboration with Three I Design and Garmong Construction, is proud to be at the forefront of this transformation. Our team is handling the survey, design, and construction of a brand-new Wally Parks Tower and upgraded Victory Lane experience.

The new three-story tower will include race control, media and broadcast facilities, and three premium suites. It will also feature a rooftop event space designed to host up to 500 guests. This modern addition will be completed in time for the 2025 U.S. Nationals, seamlessly blending the Speedway’s rich history with a forward-looking vision.

Working with the NHRA team and engaging with the legacy of this facility has been a truly rewarding experience. At Banning Engineering, we are honored to contribute to such a meaningful project and excited to help shape the next chapter of Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.
