I am so blessed!! The opportunity to interweave my work with my play and with my family is such a blessing. Much travel has occurred over the past month.
It’s always fun being asked to participate in conferences and presentations. This past month I had the opportunity to present at Fair Oaks Farms, which is located in Newton County in northwestern Indiana off of I-65. This is an enjoyable place to visit, and you should check it out.
Wandering back home brought me to visit many other places along the way. As I said, I have been blessed through my work to create wandering opportunities. Rensselaer, Remington, and Wolcott were several really nice communities to visit. Check out the historic water tower in Remington, the Jasper County Courthouse, or how about the Wolcott House?
Have you ever seen the Cairo Skywatch Tower? How about visiting the Battleground Historic Site? There are nice trails to hike along Burnett Creek on the Wabash Heritage Trail, and you need to check out Prophet’s Rock. There’s a lot of history tied to the Battle of Tippecanoe in this area. Many interesting sites to see, and a great visitor center.
Hendricks Live in downtown Plainfield is a wonderful venue. This past month we were able to attend a fundraiser and the Disco Circus. So many events happening. Get on the website and check it out. While in town, we have Greek’s and CJ’s Pizza, The Prewitt, Tlahcos, DQ, The Oasis Diner, and more. We have traveled to Danville, Greencastle, and others and enjoyed their downtown areas, as well. So many other places visited but little time to write about: Greensburg (ever seen the tree in the Decatur County Courthouse roof?), Connersville (so much history in “Little Detroit”), the 75th Amo Fish Fry Festival, the B&O Bike Ride, and summer fun runs at Hummel Park, Williams Park, and WS Gibbs Park.
What a month! Give me some places to visit. I’m always looking for the next downtown, music venue, restaurant, or out-of-the-way place to see. Keep up the wandering! Summer has so many more hours of daylight, so there are many more things to see in a day’s time.
