Employees point to pride in their work, lasting client relationships, and a meaningful impact on the communities they serve.
Banning Engineering is proud to announce that we have once again been recognized by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce as one of the 2026 Best Places to Work in Indiana, earning the #12 ranking in the Small to Medium Business company category statewide.
This marks the sixth consecutive year Banning Engineering has received this honor, reflecting our continued commitment to building a workplace culture centered around teamwork, trust, professional growth, and support for one another.
The Best Places to Work in Indiana program recognizes companies that excel in workplace culture and employee experience, with rankings based in part on confidential employee feedback. This year’s survey results reflected strong engagement and alignment across the firm, with employees unanimously agreeing that they find purpose in their work, that they are paid fairly for the work they perform, and that workloads and deadlines are reasonable and sustainable.
“We are incredibly honored to receive this recognition again,” said Joe Miller, CEO of Banning Engineering. “Our people are the reason for our success. This award reflects the culture our team has worked hard to create and maintain over the years.”
Employees expressed genuine pride in the work itself, particularly the firm’s impact on the communities it serves and the long-term relationships it builds with clients across Indiana. Team members also consistently point to a family-oriented, supportive atmosphere defined by strong interpersonal relationships, approachable leadership grounded in shared values, and a collaborative spirit that runs across every level of the organization. Flexibility and work-life balance were repeatedly named as defining strengths, from family-first scheduling to sustainable workloads and a high level of trust between leadership and staff. Together, these qualities have become increasingly rare in today’s industry, and they represent the foundation of what makes Banning a truly distinctive place to work.
A significant part of that foundation is the firm’s structure as an employee-owned company (ESOP). Being employee-owned means every member of the Banning team has a real stake in the company’s success, not just as a worker, but as an owner. That shared ownership shapes how decisions are made, how challenges are tackled, and how wins are celebrated. It fosters a deep sense of accountability, pride, and long-term thinking, because the people doing the work are the same people building the company’s future. It also reinforces Banning’s commitment to collaboration, flexibility, community involvement, and meaningful opportunities for employees to grow both personally and professionally. The firm believes that investing in its people ultimately strengthens the service it provides to clients and the impact it makes in communities throughout Indiana.
