Is anyone else participating in some summer cleaning? We’ve been disposing of old files around our office and determined a way to donate binders that we no longer need. Whether you’re sorting through office supplies, purchasing new items for your kids to return to school, or getting rid of things in your garage, consider donating your gently used items to an organization in your community.
Recently one of our interns sorted through old binders filled with research and information from former projects. Rather than disposing of all the binders, our HR Director took them to Teachers’ Treasures. Teachers’ Treasures collects donated school supplies and distributes them to Marion County teachers for students in need. Every day children attend school without the basic supplies they need for class, and dedicated teachers pay for these supplies out of their pockets for their student’s success. Teachers’ Treasures partners with local businesses, foundations, neighborhood organizations, and individuals to operate a volunteer-based store for teachers. According to their website, 100,000+ students are impacted by Teachers’ Treasures each year, and Teachers’ Treasures has given away $75 million worth of school supplies since opening in 2000. If you would like to start this 2022-23 school year off by donating some items, check out the Teachers’ Treasures website here or partner with a similar organization in your community.
