A teacher at Brentwood Elementary in Plainfield reached out to Banning Engineering asking us to talk about engineering during her science class. Mark Butler and Pete Rusche of Banning found a fun way by means of a class demonstration on how a road is built. They used various candies to build the layers of a road within a small-scale Plexiglas box. They had a few slides to show pictures of a real road being built. They also called on a few volunteers to help in class and handed out some kid sized plastic hard hats. It was a great event, and the kids had a lot of fun gaining some new knowledge.
