Jeff Banning, PE
Jeff Banning founded Banning Engineering in 1994 and has served as president since the organization’s inception. He is responsible for the leadership and guidance of the team members, business development, client development, project management, including contract preparation to project close-out and overseeing the financial and business operations. Jeff is involved in a variety of organizations and holds many leadership positions such as the Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership Board of Directors, the Park Foundation of Hendricks County Board President, and the Citizens Bank Board of Directors. Jeff is also an active member of the Plainfield Chamber of Commerce, Indiana Association of County Commissioners, Aim (formerly the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns), Avon Chamber of Commerce, Mooresville Chamber of Commerce, Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis, Plainfield Christian Church, Johnson County EDC, Knox County EDC, and Morgan County EDC. Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Evansville.
Jeff Healy, PE
Jeff Healy has been with Banning Engineering since 1996, working on all facets of engineering design and construction. He has also brought a specialty in the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation of drainage systems and earth embankment dams. Previously as State Conservation Engineer for USDA-NRCS, he supervised design, construction, operations and maintenance of all Agency (Federal) constructed dams in Indiana. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, Jeff has been a wonderful mentor for our team at Banning Engineering. Jeff has a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Illinois, along with post-graduate work at Wright State University in Groundwater Hydrology. Outside the office, Jeff is involved in a variety of organizations such as: The American Water Resources Association, American Society of State Dam Safety Officials, Indiana Association for Floodplain & Stormwater Management, Indiana Water Environment Association, and the Chi Alpha Campus Ministries—Area Resource Team.
Brian Haggard, PS
Brian Haggard serves as Vice President and has been a crucial member of the team since 1994. Some of his responsibilities are the management of the surveying department, boundary survey analysis and calculations, subdivision plats, topographic surveys, GPS data processing, project management including contract preparation to project close-out, employee supervision and the general role of overseeing survey operations of the business. Brian has received his associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Purdue University. He is involved in a variety of organizations such as the Indiana Society of Professional Land Surveyors, Central Indiana Chapter of the Indiana Society of Professional, National Society of Professional Land Surveyors, and the International Right of Way Association.
Scott Manson joined Banning Engineering in 1998 as Controller. Before Banning, Scott worked as the Controller for two other companies located in the Indianapolis area. Scott graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Business. Scott is an active member of the Plainfield Christian Church and serves on the finance committee.
Joseph Miller, PE, CFM
Joseph Miller is responsible for providing engineering and project management through planning, directing, and coordinating of project activities. He ensures that project goals are accomplished within the prescribed time frames and contract parameters. Joe specializes in hydraulics and hydrology engineering on large and small scales. He is a Certified Floodplain Manager and uses this knowledge to enhance the final product and reduce risk exposure for the client. He is proficient in the numerous permitting requirements and on projects within and near waterways. Joe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He is an active member in the Indiana Association for Floodplain & Stormwater Management and the Association of State Floodplain Managers.
Jeff Henson, CPA
As the Vice President of Operations, Jeff guides the strategic direction of the firm and assists with the day to day operations of the professional services team of Banning Engineering. With over 38 years of experience, Mr. Henson brings with him a wide breadth of operational expertise and experience working with Indiana communities and water utilities. He is a member of the Indiana CPA Society, American Water Works Association (including a past role as member of Water Utility Council), and Aim (formerly Indiana Association of Cities and Towns). He is a past member and board member of the Indiana Standardbred Association. He was appointed by Gov. O’Bannon to the Indiana Standardbred Advisory Board where he served for 6 years, most of that time as Chairman, and he was the Past Director of Harness Racing at the Indiana State Fair. Jeff enjoys travel, riding his bike around downtown Indianapolis, and most importantly, spending time with his three grandkids.
Natalie Anderson, PHR, SHRM-CP
Natalie is responsible for Banning Engineering’s many human resources activities. She works hard to ensure team members take advantage of the wide variety of benefits Banning Engineering employees receive. Natalie is a graduate of Purdue University and a PHR and SHRM-CP certified HR practitioner. She is an active member of the Hendricks County HR Square Table and serves on the HR Square Table’s Planning Committee. Natalie has been with Banning Engineering since 2005, prior to that she headed the Employee Relations Team for a national retailer doing business in 23 states. She resides in Avon with her husband and two human children and any furry animal that shows up at her door.
Sarah is responsible for the overall coordination of Banning Engineering’s business development and marketing efforts. With over ten years of experience in economic and community development, she is also involved in Banning Engineering’s many site assessment projects. Prior to joining Banning, Sarah worked for Building Better Communities at Ball State University where she led their community and economic development educational programs. She is a member of the Indiana Economic Development Association and is a Certified Program Planner through the Learning Resources Network. She is a graduate of the Indiana Agricultural Leadership Program and the Indiana Economic Development Course. She resides in Brownsburg with her husband, Matt, and their two children.
Mark Butler, PE
Mark Butler is a Project Manager with over seven years of experience. He has extensive experience and expertise in geographical information systems (GIS) and leads Banning Engineering’s asset management services. Key projects Mark has led include the IUPUI utility mapping in asset management, various parking lot rehabilitations for the IUPUC and IUPUI campuses, and several commercial site work projects including Home Bank in Plainfield and U-Haul Eagledale Self Storage facility in Indianapolis. Mark has recently taken the project manager role for the Town of Plainfield’s US 40 at Raceway Road Reconstruction Project.
Mark finds helping communities secure project funding especially fulfilling. He specializes in community crossing road funding as well as OCRA grant funding. Last year, he guided communities in multiple counties to earn over $1.5M in road funding.
Jason Coyle, PS
Mr. Coyle is responsible for boundary survey analysis and calculations, subdivision plats, topographic surveys, GPS data processing and project management, including contract preparation to project close-out. Prior to joining Banning Engineering, Mr. Coyle served as the executive director of the Indiana Society of Professional Land Surveyors. In this role, he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Society, which include advocating for the industry, designing the Society’s annual conventions, and preparing membership correspondence.
Kent Elliott, PE
Bringing a new set of expertise to the Banning Engineering team, Kent will be focusing on municipal water and wastewater design. Coming to Banning after 14 years of experience, Kent has specialized in environmental engineering in all phases of a project, including planning, design and construction. His broad experience in the civil engineering field includes a variety of drinking water and wastewater projects, including wastewater collection systems, lift stations and wastewater treatment plant design, potable water distribution systems, booster stations, water storage tanks, and potable water treatment plant design. Kent received his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering with a minor in Environmental Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He is a member of the Alliance of Indiana Rural Water, American Water Works Association (AWWA), Indiana Rural Water Association (IRWA), and Indiana Water Environment Association (IWEA).
A graduate of Purdue University, Ryan is Banning Engineering’s Director of Development and is responsible for technical personnel, design and drafting of commercial subdivisions, commercial site plans, and utility plans. Ryan has been with Banning since 1995, where he has experience involving layout and technical design. He is involved in the management phase of commercial and industrial projects and has the communication skills necessary to see a successful project through to completion. Ryan is involved in the Brownsburg Chamber of Commerce, the Indiana Parks and Recreation Association, and is Board Member and Coach for TriWest Swim Club. He and his wife, Shannon, have four children. In his free time, he loves hunting and fishing, sports, racing and spending time with family.
Jonathan Polson, PS
Jon is responsible for implementing GIS Software that include Small and Large Scale Land Analysis, Color Exhibits, Elevation Models and General Mapping. Mr. Polson is proficient in the use of statistical analysis of Structural, Hydrologic, Environmental, Demographic, and Land Cover data and can provide residential and commercial Land Surveying needs. He continues to expand his knowledge by attending seminars and conferences to further his education in these fields. Jon is an avid runner and he and his family are active members of the Plainfield Christian Church.
Bob Staton, PS
Bob Staton has been with Banning Engineering since 2000. With a Bachelors of Science from Purdue University (IUPUI) in Construction Management and over 35 years of experience, Bob has been a great asset to the Banning Engineering Team. He has many years of experience in residential and commercial site design projects and is our project manager for multiple projects in Central Indiana. Bob serves as a member of the Speedway Stormwater Management Board and is Speedway’s representative on the beverage board. He is also a part of the Indiana Society of Professional Land Surveyors.
Jeff is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating work for all Banning Engineering’s field services. He budgets, schedules, and ensures projects are completed properly and efficiently. Being in charge of field safety, he conducts frequent safety meetings to discuss awareness or concerns about being compliant. Some of his general duties include scheduling, budgeting, construction calculations, utility and contractor coordination, equipment maintenance/training, and employee reviews. Jeff has a degree in Building Construction and Contracting from Purdue University.
